About

Two brothers who got tired of lights that die.

SASS Electronics started for a boring reason. Every year the same thing happened: buy decorative lights for the festive season, put them up, enjoy them for a few weeks, pack them away, and find half of them dead the following year. Buy again. Repeat.

After enough rounds of that we started paying attention to why. It is almost never the LEDs. It is thin wire that cracks where it was bent around a railing, undersized controllers that cook themselves inside sealed plastic, and series wiring so cheap that one dead diode takes an entire run with it. None of that is visible in a product photograph, which is exactly why the market gets away with it.

What we do differently

We buy from suppliers who will show us their BIS registration, we keep the paperwork, and we plug in every single unit before it goes into a box. It is slower and it costs us margin. It also means the person who discovers a dead strand is us, in our own room, rather than you, halfway up a ladder.

We stock a deliberately small range. There are thousands of near-identical series lights online, most of them the same factory output at different markups. We carry the ones that survive a season, and we drop anything whose return rate makes us uncomfortable, even when it sells well.

What we will not do

We will not put a countdown timer on a product page. We will not say only 2 left when we are holding forty. We will not call an IP20 string waterproof because it might move more units. And when you message us describing what you want to light, we will tell you honestly if the answer is fewer metres than you were about to order.

We are two people, not a call centre. That means we might take an hour to reply in the evening. It also means the person answering actually knows what is in stock and what it does.
